PennyFi Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 11, 2026

Overview

PennyFi is a personal finance app that keeps your data private. All your financial information is stored locally on your device and, if enabled, synced across your own devices via your private iCloud account. We do not collect, store, or have access to any of your data.

Data Storage

All data you enter into PennyFi — including accounts, transactions, budgets, payees, and investment holdings — is stored locally on your device using Apple’s on-device database. We do not operate any servers and have no ability to access your information.

iCloud Sync

If you have iCloud enabled, PennyFi uses Apple’s CloudKit to sync your data across your personal devices. This data is stored in your private iCloud container, accessible only to you. We cannot read, access, or retrieve this data. Apple’s iCloud privacy policy governs this storage.

Market Data

To display current investment prices and currency exchange rates, PennyFi makes requests to the following public data providers:

• Yahoo Finance (stock and ETF prices) • CoinGecko (cryptocurrency prices) • Frankfurter.app (currency exchange rates, sourced from the European Central Bank)

These requests contain only ticker symbols or currency codes — no personal or financial information is sent. We have no control over these third-party services and recommend reviewing their respective privacy policies. As with any internet request, these providers may see your device’s IP address; we send no identifiers and no personal or financial information.

Biometric Authentication

PennyFi offers an optional app lock using Face ID or Touch ID. Biometric data is handled entirely by your device’s operating system and is never accessible to PennyFi.

Data Collection

PennyFi does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. We do not use analytics, advertising, tracking, or any third-party SDKs. There are no user accounts or registration required.

Data Export and Deletion

You can export your data at any time as a backup file from within the app. You can delete all data on your device using “Make a Fresh Start” in Settings. If iCloud sync is enabled, copies synced to your private iCloud container can be removed via your device’s iCloud settings (Manage Account Storage), or they will sync back to the app.

Receipt Scanning If you scan a receipt, the image is processed entirely on your device using Apple’s on-device intelligence and text recognition. Receipt images are never uploaded, never shared, and are not retained after scanning. Camera and photo library access is used only for this feature.

Calendar If you enable bill calendar sync, PennyFi writes upcoming bill events to your own calendar using the access you grant. Nothing is read or sent elsewhere.

Children’s Privacy

PennyFi does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.
